I fully support the bill to ban the fur trade in Israel. The fur trade is cruel and unnecessary and responsible for the suffering and death of more than 70 million animals each year.
If the ban succeeds and comes into force, Israel would be setting an example that other countries are sure to follow. You would be seen as a world leader in compassion and kindness.
I am sure that the international fur trade is lobbying hard to protect its trade but this is an unscrupulous self-interest group that has had ample opportunity to face up to the cruelty involved in fur production.
The fact is this cruelty is inherent in the trade and only by banning the trade can the unnecessary suffering be ended.
On behalf of the majority of the people in my country, I am asking you to do the right thing and support the ban on the fur trade and to help bring it in as soon as possible, so that others can follow your lead.
