Concerning: Please stop the brutal Cape fur seal hunt

The Honorable B. Esau

July, 2018

Dear Minister Esau:

I hereby urge you to stop the cruel hunt on Cape fur seals. Every year thousands of young seals are being clubbed to death.

The current permit for the Cape fur seal hunt expires after December 31st 2018. I ask you not to give out new fishing rights for Cape fur seals.

Research shows seals are not the cause of declining fish stock. Furthermore, they are a popular tourist attraction for the many visitors of your beautiful country. Because of that the seal hunt is less profitable than seal watching.

Already 35 countries have import bans on seal products. Now is the time for your government to take the next step. Stop this barbaric hunt.

Please end the slaughter and mistreatment of seals once and for all and do not give out new permits for the seal hunt.

Yours sincerely,
